Welcome Taiwan Fans

Datong District, Taipei City, Oct 2021, Rolleicord

I am a Taiwan Fan. I found myself here in 2020, bright eyed and bushy tailed, ready to explore. It’s been a journey of self-reflection, doubt, discovery, wonder and new beginnings. Who am I?, Why am I here?, What is next?

All questions I have asked myself over the past few years.

Thanks to a few good people, a quest for a purpose and a sprinkling of luck, I have become a writer in Taiwan. Taiwan Fanzine is my portfolio, my brave space and a way to connect with the world through the beauty of the English language. I am learning Mandarin, but that is a loooooong journey in itself…

Despite my friends wanting me to make this a travel and resources blog about Taiwan, it ain’t happening, its not my jam.

Here you will find articles that I have written and edited for the magazine Centered on Taiwan (COT). I interview and write about Taiwanese musicians. All in the hope that new and old people discovering Taiwan will get out there and fill their ears and eyes with the diverse music of this cool country.

MUSIC IS after all, LIFE!

I intend to also use this Fanzine as a way to explore my writing through people and places in Taiwan that pique my interest. I have a love of Poetry, so a page is dedicated to poems I have written and I am the proud owner of a 1954 Rolleicord and a 1972 Canon AE1 Camera, so all photographs in this Zine are my own.

Taiwan is such a beautiful country, how could I not document it?!

If you find yourself here, welcome and thanks for stopping by. Let’s become Taiwan fans together x
